Carlynn Magliano Sweeney
Carlynn has been assisting attorneys and other legal professionals with their career goals since 2004. She has worked with individuals at all levels and in all specializations. Her personal knowledge of law firm and corporate life allows her to understand each candidate’s unique situation and goals. She brings a combination of real world experience, practical knowledge about successful job seeking, and commitment to assisting her clients with achieving their professional goals to each counseling relationship.
Before joining Preferred Transition Resources, Carlynn was the Associate Director of Alumni Career Services at Fordham Law School. Here, she counseled students and alumni on their professional development, job searches, and career transitions. She also conducted workshops on topics including resume and cover letter writing, business plan development, job search techniques, communication skills, and networking.
Carlynn has also held the role of legal recruiter where she successfully placed individuals into a wide variety of organizations, including banks, non-profit organizations, pharmaceutical companies, publishing houses, consumer products companies, and law and consulting firms.
Carlynn began her career as an attorney at two major law firms. She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Northeastern Law School. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Career Advancement and Management, the Holy Cross Lawyers Association, and the Westchester Women’s Bar Association.
Carlynn is a frequent presenter on the topic of professional development and career transitions for lawyers, and has written numerous articles on the topic of career transition counseling. Carlynn and her husband, also a lawyer, live in New Rochelle with their three children.
